Heavy Duty Component Pallet
“Action Handling are our go-to-guys for equipment!”
All our custom equipment is designed & manufactured to comply with Health & Safety standard regulations
During the summer of 2012, the UK car industry enjoyed a 22% rise in production in comparison to the same period of 2011. Therefore, it was no surprise that a gargantuan amount of materials were being transported and used to keep up with demand. Action Handling has worked extensively with clients in the automotive sector for over 40 years, offering expert advice and solutions to satisfy requirements for any application.
One of the UK’s most prestigious automotive manufacturers were looking for a way to increase the output of their assembly line. With increased demand, they had encountered a slowdown in the meeting of requirements of their factory and contacted Action Handling for a solution. Once our Sales Director, Stephen Phillips, had arrived on site and spoke at length with our client’s Chief Engineer it was clear that one particular point in the production line was causing delays, namely; the transportation of large car body parts across site.
The current strategy of moving these components was either with standard platform trolleys (which were much smaller than the components themselves, bringing H&S issues into play) or with large HD Trailers (clearly too slow for an efficient day-to-day operation).
Action Handling’s proposal was for a Heavy Duty Component Pallet, designed specifically for our client’s exact requirement. Features include; adjustable height platform, tow-bar, cushioned rubber tyres with wheel-guards and mesh steel platforms for ease of use.
Full working drawings were submitted to our client, which were swiftly approved and progressed to us manufacturing a sample model. The finished units were completed and on-site ready for use within 5 weeks.
Since its implementation, our bespoke Component Pallet has improved productivity for our client tenfold, and we are now in talks to supply more for 2015!
