With the UK clocks going back recently, the dark evenings and cold mornings give fair warning that winter is well and truly on the way. It makes great sense to prepare now, well in advance for the frost and snow conditions that will inevitably follow over the coming months. Harsh cold winters have become an increasingly familiar weather pattern over the past few years with recent history telling us that extreme conditions has forced certain parts of the country to come to almost a complete standstill. This has caused chaos for travel and businesses alike, so it makes logical sense to start preparations as soon as possible.

Some of our larger national customers have multiple sites throughout the UK and they have placed orders which had us pack together several items of equipment to form winter packs made up exactly to their own requirements. 28 courier sites based strategically around the country have taken delivery of our grit bins packs that include a grit bin, salt, shovel and hi-viz waistcoat and gloves. These were combined with a salt spreader for applying the salt to larger areas around the sites.  For this customer a total of 46 salt/grit bins, 48 salt spreaders and 326 snow shovels were delivered and we felt a great sense of pride to know that Christmas orders for parcels and gifts will hopefully be fulfilled without delay due to wintery weather. In a year where we have already had all too many delays, cancellations and rescheduling, it was a great opportunity to jump at the chance of doing our small part in keeping the supply chain moving.

We have recently seen a huge increase in demand for grit bins, salt, shovels and salt spreaders. These products will form the basis of bad weather preparations that will clear or prevent icy conditions in yards, walkways, loading bays and public areas.

Snow and ice can be extremely hazardous if left unattended or left unprepared. Gritting pathways, loading bays, car parks, yards and any exposed areas with rock salt before the event, is the most effective way of preventing slip and fall accidents. Even after the advent of a snowfall or icy blast, rock salt will help to make those areas easier to grip and walk on.

So whilst we couldn’t prepare for the impact Coronavirus has had on our lives and businesses this year, we can prepare for the winter weather!
