We often cite Health and Safety requirements in our blog posts – after, all, they are an integral part of doing business in the UK. The information we cite is for general purposes only – each business should have their own policy in place and all staff should be aware of what it is. However, there are several basic rules that can apply to most companies, such as:

  • Proper staff training
  • Using the correct equipment for the job
  • Keeping equipment maintained and up to date with regular safety checks
  • Providing a clean work environment

That last one is interesting, as it falls into an area that doesn’t directly impact productivity. However, providing a clean work environment is part of on-site Health and Safety management, as well as being a common sense part of business maintenance.

At this time of year, when snow and rain mean mud and water tracked inside, keep your floors clear and hazard-free by investing in a cleaning machine. Action Handling have several different options, including hot and cold water pressure washers, floor sweepers, vacuums and steam cleaners, all designed to make the job as easy as possible.

Depending on your work environment and cleaning arrangements, you may not require dedicated cleaning machinery onsite, but you will require appropriate waste containers. Whether for paper, offcuts, product waste, packaging or perishable items, sack holders, litter bins, wheelie bins or ash stands should all be provided where needed. Action Handling can help – browse our extensive range online or in our catalogue to find just what you need.

If you do employ janitorial staff to keep bathroom, kitchen and office areas clean, make sure they have all the tools they require for each task. A janitorial trolley is an efficient way to keep cleaning supplies in one place, plus can be stored or covered easily, keeping it out of the way when not in use. Rapid response cleaning trolleys and hazardous spill containment kits are also recommended, ensuring your business can keep working with minimum disruption. Housekeeping. It’s a dirty job, but somebody has to do it (sorry).

So make sure your business has everything it needs to stay safe, clean and hygienic. For more information about our product range or bespoke steel fabrication service, give us a call  our friendly sales team  are here to help.
