When Action Handling was founded nearly 45 years ago, it was with the philosophy that we would offer a reliable and competitive product range and, above all, treat our customers with respect and care. A family business now on its third generation, the company has grown to encompass over 12,000 items in our product range, as well as producing an impressive list of custom steel designs for a variety of clients. However, our founding philosophy of customer care still remains a key part of the business, from filling the smallest order to designing unique bespoke solutions.

Bespoke can be a word that carries with it the connotation of expense and time. However, when it comes to creating a steel solution for your business, our experienced team will come up with the most cost effective and productive design solution, working with you throughout the process to ensure the end product is exactly what you need.

Starting with an on-site visit to assess your needs, the team will then identify issues and propose solutions. All designs are manufactured onsite and usually have a lead-time of three to four weeks, depending on the complexity.

We think our case studies speak for themselves:

  • An Essex-based power station approached Action Handling with an issue transporting goods around their site. Upon analysis of what was required, Action Handling designed a custom made, heavy-duty trailer that was user-friendly and able to cope with demand. The initial model proved so successful that the company has now recommended sister-sites implement use of the same trailer.
  • A Hertfordshire NHS hospital contacted Action Handling looking for a solution to store their numerous gas cylinder bottles. The cage needed to be secure and well ventilated so, after consultation with the client, Action Handling produced a custom size mesh storage cage complete with anti corrosive finish and warning labels, to comply with H&S regulations.
  • A chance conversation with a global motorcycle manufacturer led to the design and supply of a new method of motorcycle delivery. Previously, motorcycles were transported and delivered singly in wooden boxes and packaging, with the cost of packaging disposal left to the customer. Action Handling designed a bespoke steel pallet with the capacity to transport three motorcycles at a time. The design was approved and a trial unit ordered. The design was so successful it is now used globally.
