The Air Cadets had a health and safety problem that was causing issues with damage to aircraft wings and difficulty in boarding aircraft and then also leaving the cockpit.
The objective was to design a new bespoke step that allowed the air cadets to enter the aircraft safely using a new lift 'n' pull style stepladder. The existing ladder on site was not suitable so a site visit was requested.
The existing ladder had many problems for the operation on site, the platform height was not suitable for all air cadets and the handle was set far too low as the air cadets left the aircraft. The standing platform was small and unsuitable for use plus the ladder would move as weight was applied.
A basic prototype was produced and taken to site for a trial, after three weeks the feedback was positive and a second site visit was rebooked to establish areas where further improvements could be made.
A new prototype was produced and supplied on site with all proposed modifications taken into account. We have now supplied several units to the Air Cadets with the projection of twelve more units to follow.
All our custom equipment is designed and manufactured to comply with health and safety standard regulations.
