The health and leisure industry has seen a massive influx of boot-camps and group training classes over the past year. It has shown to be a more effective way of exercising than independent gym sessions i.e. more fun, more varied and more sociable. Surveys show that people have generally had enough of the big box shiny gyms. More and more personal training studios, crossfit centres and boot-camps are cropping up all the time and this is expected to continue in 2013/14 and beyond.
A major gym consortium was recently searching for new equipment trolleys and they contacted Action Handling to help with their requirements. Between group classes, gym instructors were losing valuable time in preparation i.e. carrying mats, weights, steps off to the side of the studio which would reduce the potential one-on-one time with patrons. The client had been unable to find anything suitable to transport their gym equipment, other than standard models that were either too large or too small.
Action Handling visited a local gym to discuss the project with the gym staff and to ascertain the correct specification details. The design team then designed two types of trolley, manufactured ‘trial evaluation prototypes’ for both and took them to site to assist with the process.
After some minor modifications, the final design was agreed and orders were placed for the entire UK gym network.
