industrial look

Standard office furniture is designed to complement modern office spaces, all clean lines and smooth finishes, easy to clean and maintain. However, have you considered thinking outside the square and bringing a touch of industrial interior design into your commercial business space?

Industrial interior design is a style that is growing in popularity, especially as old warehouses are converted to offices and studios. Exposed brickwork, steel and timber are all characteristic of such spaces, preserving their past while reworking them for the present day. This design aesthetic also extends to the office fit-out, with galvanised steel, exposed bolts, chrome and distressed timber finishes becoming increasingly desirable. The use of industrial grade furniture, once confined to warehouse spaces, is becoming more prevalent in commercial business offices as designers seek to create a workspace that is as much about function as it is about form.

There are benefits to using industrial strength units in your office space or business. They often come with customisable accessories, such as wheels, drawer units or adjustable shelving heights, plus are incredibly durable, having been constructed for use in more extreme working conditions and designed to withstand repeated usage. Industrial furniture is also very versatile – for example, Action Handling stock a variety of shelving units that can be added to as needed and are available in several different sizes and finishes, while our basic workbench also comes in several different finishes and can be customised with accessories to work as a desk or meeting table, depending on your needs.  There are also quite a few other items in our storage, workbench and locker ranges that have great crossover potential, moving easily from the warehouse to the office.

Of course, we don’t want to steer you away completely from the very real benefits of modern office furniture. Rather, we encourage you to look at your space and see what might work. This style of design is a nod to our great industrial past and is durable enough to last well into the future.
