The NHS recently celebrated its 70th Birthday, what a magnificent achievement from the organisation that the whole country holds dear to its heart; over the last seven decades we have seen massive improvements in research and developing medicine which has allowed us to live healthier and longer by an average of ten years. During forty of those seventy years, Action Handling has been on hand to offer the NHS up and down the country advice on storage and handling issues that crop up on site.
Keeping staff safe and improving the day to day running of a busy healthcare centre or hospital has been an absolute pleasure for us and we look forward to the next few decades working with NHS as the demand for healthcare increases as the population ages. Our latest project for a London trust hospital was largely based on a previous supply of a gas cylinder bottle trailer in Suffolk. The hospital portering and security staff were involved as they were trying to source a bespoke towable trailer to transport a number of gas cylinders from the stores and distribute safely around the hospital premises.
Our sales manager who was also involved in the previous project worked closely with the hospital staff to ensure that every detail and concern was taken in to account before plans were drawn up and approved to manufacture the new purpose built trailer for the site. His knowledge of the previous project was helpful and reassuring for the NHS ensuring the right storage space for each individual cylinder was correct and making sure the drop down side, that doubled up as a loading ramp was set correctly to make sure the operator could load and unload safely.
The new trailer was designed to take ZX cylinders and J size cylinders along with two crates with dividers to hold small hand held cylinders. The steel base landing deck was non slip and the drop down sides also doubled up as a loading ramp and fitted on solid puncture proof wheels with a towable handle to allow the hospital's electric tug to move the unit around the hospital grounds. The hospital was pleased to receive the trailer and the security manager remarked on how good the product was to use and that the service he had received from Action was first class. The whole project from start to finish took just over 12 weeks.
