From time to time, like most businesses, we all take a frantic phone call from a customer that urgently needs some new equipment delivered to site - like yesterday! Maybe a certain string of events have occurred or possibly because of an oversight, but at the eleventh hour an alarm is raised to a panic level that requires a good well known supplier to respond quickly in order to recover and turn the situation around. We were pleased that we could help one of our large customers just before Christmas when their regular appointed furniture supplier were unable to fulfil the vital and urgent need of a large quantity of canteen furniture within just a few days. The customer required light oak tables and blue canteen chairs in a mix of folding and non-folding styles. We were delighted to step in at late notice and provide the high quality furniture that our customer sought. The customer was taking on significant additional staff ahead of the manic Christmas season for their parcel depot delivery hub in Warrington and this had prompted the last minute requirement.

This gigantic purpose built site measuring 15,000 square metres officially opened in 2014. Designed to support the continuation of growth for one of the UK’s favourite parcel delivery companies, it cost £14 million and has an eye watering capacity of around 550,000 parcels being handled each and every day. They have a truly awesome piece of kit built- in with an automated scanner that has the capacity to process 20,000 parcels per hour. This site has become an important part of the logistics involved with the increase in demand of online orders for urgent next day delivery. The Warrington hub plays a key role for the UK network not to mention the recent international expansion also being seen.

With new staff due to start working in just six days time and the potential for them having physically nowhere to sit and eat in a staff canteen, the pressure was on to get the order for furniture manufactured and delivered to site.
