We are living in very strange times. Every day brings yet another challenge to test us all, both individually and collectively. Things that we took for granted just a few weeks ago are no longer just as straight forward. This was clearly highlighted this week by one of our long-standing customers.

For years our customer’s staff have used the company canteen to sit down, take a break and use the facilities for eating and drinking. They could relax and take time to set themselves for the next task ahead. I am sure this is the case up and down the country. Break time or lunchtime, it’s a perfect opportunity for staff to gather and talk about work, football, politics and how wonderful the boss is, or not! To reset and recharge for the next part of their working shift is important. Lorry drivers, picking staff, operatives and management all use this communal area. However, in these difficult times, the days where staff could sit around a table of six people at a time and do all of this are for now on a temporary hold whilst we are all adjusting to the new ways of social distancing due to Coronavirus. Key-workers that still must go to work are having to observe a whole new set of rules.

One of the main UK logistics companies had this very issue to resolve at their major hubs across the UK. Ever quick to respond, we were able to offer up an almost instant and perfect solution for our customer. Normally used for educational establishments, our FT1 Stackable Durable Chair with a swing down writing tablet arm, has proved to be a great problem solver that would allow staff to socially distance whilst in a sitting position. We were able to despatch over 200 chairs promptly and to supply the various sites with their requirements all within 72 hours of the call coming into our sales office.

This stacking chair is moulded in plastic with a black frame. With one arm and a writing tablet they are available with a blue, green, red, or black coloured seat. Primarily as mentioned before, they are used within educational establishments, normally as exam chairs or student study chairs for the more mature type of student. The folding writing tablet would enable the staff to sit a safe distance apart from each other and allow them to rest and take on board refreshments and food within the safe social distancing parameters now in operation around the country. When the user is finished the cleaning staff could then simply clean down the chair and table using antibacterial spray and wipes and then neatly stack the chairs with the tablet arm in the folded down position. These chairs will stack 5 high to allow plenty of clearance on the floor whilst the cleaning team would be preparing the area for the next shift to start.

So, if you need a problem solving quickly, get in touch. Stay safe, we are in this together and the team at Action Handling is on hand to help.
