autumn leaves

You know it's going to happen and then you find yourself hunting around for an old and no doubt part damaged broom! You remember back to last year when you swore that you would be better prepared this year. Well, you still have time provided you act quickly!

Most businesses suffer from fallen leaves around their premises at this time of year. The problem can even extend to leaves getting into your workplace and causing health and safety issues that could easily be avoided. The fallen leaves season normally extends from late September through to the middle of December, depending on the weather and your geographic location in the Country. Forecourts, yards, loading areas and pedestrian walkways are areas that require particular attention because they possess the risk of slips and falls. Assess your risks and avoid expensive compensation claims!

The inefficient way of dealing with the clearance of fallen leaves is to take employees away from their normal daily productivity tasks, arm them with brooms, shovels and bin liners and then get them to spend valuable time manually removing the problem. Or you could wisely invest in some relatively inexpensive equipment that can deal with those leaves in a matter of minutes.

yard brush
If you have a fork lift or stacker truck on site then the use of a sweeping attachment could prove invaluable
snow plough
Alternatively, there is a small sweeping tool that can deal with both leaves and snow clearance, a double whammy for that winter problem as well!

The problem of leaves entering business premises is another risk assessed task that needs careful consideration. Open warehouse doors are a particular hazard in this respect when leaves can easily be blown in by the wind.

pvc curtain

The use of PVC strip curtains can be of great benefit in helping to prevent this occurrence and they can be supplied to fit almost any size of opening. They come in a variety of styles, sizes, fixings and colours. Not only will they act as a good barrier to keep out leaves, dust and debris, but they will also help to regulate temperatures within your building. They will keep the cold out in the winter and the excesses of heat out in the summer.

Act now to avoid becoming the same person that you were last year and make sure that the back breaking task of sweeping up the leaves is handled in a more efficient manner!
