Technological advancements in electrical hand tools have revolutionised industry and enable us to enjoy increased productivity and quality performance. However, we are often hearing from customers that one of their problems involves the 'storage security' and 'down time' of equipment when they need to be electrically charged for future continued use.

We were recently contacted by a leading supermarket chain to solve such a problem for their maintenance teams at various depots across the UK. The issue was to have a power supply within a lockable cabinet, so valuable power tool batteries could be charged up, whilst being kept in a safe and secure environment. We were tasked with the challenge to offer a bespoke solution to design and manufacture a suitable steel cabinet that would provide the charging ability, whilst the batteries were contained within an easy to lock secure cabinet that had vision panels fitted, so that security staff could view the contents. Tool and equipment theft has become a major problem for all industries throughout the country and the loss in particular of electrically charged equipment has now reached almost epidemic proportions.
 
Our customer was delighted with the solution that we provided and we are now supplying these units across all of their nationwide outlets.

The construction of perforated mesh door storage cabinets is from a combination of 2mm steel sheet and a mild steel 'punched out' mesh sheet. The dimensions of the cabinet are a height of 1830mm x width 915mm x depth 460mm. Each cabinet comes complete with four adjustable steel shelves. The internal rear of the cabinet is fitted with 4 equally spaced double electrical sockets which provide the power outlet used to charge the batteries. The cabinet is pre-wired with a 3m trailer lead with a standard 13amp Plug which is issued with PATS test label. The finish is a powder coated grey carcass and blue coloured doors.

This cabinet, fitted our customer’s exact specification but we could have easily used different dimensions, electrical fittings and finished colours. Lockers for charging laptops, mobile phones and small electrical equipment can also be bespoke made should the standard range not fit the bill.

Why risk the theft of electrical equipment that is on charge? Keep it secure while charging and save having to replace expensive tools, laptops and phones!
