Whiteboards provide a highly visual method of detailing information. Offices have been using them for years to help plan and record all manner of business activity and scheduled tasks.
Most whiteboards are hung on an office wall and often only privy to the person using them or a selected group of employees. More recently we have seen the expansion of their use across inter departmental sections of businesses. The use of computer spreadsheets has also been seen as an effective method of sharing information from person to person and between various departments. But if you want a more visible, transparent and 'in your face' way of displaying information, then a nice, easy to use, impressive and concise whiteboard is the way of sharing that all important detail!
Whiteboards are often referred to as notice boards, planning boards or schedulers and they come in a large variety of standard designs and sizes. As you will find, they can be made in several different materials and whilst some are still best suited to hang on the wall, there are also types that are fitted to stands or alternatively on mobile castor bases. Mobile whiteboards are highly effective if you want to be able to move the displayed information around within your business, from department to department or at different selected viewpoints.
More and more, customers approach us asking for tailor made whiteboards. Not only a bespoke size but also with the addition of personalised printed graphics on to which data is entered by the user.
A recent order saw us supply 24 mobile whiteboards with a specific design that enables the company to use the boards as a KPI management tool. KPI stands for Key Performance Indicator which is a quantifiable measure of performance over a given time period for individual objectives. This can help to provide set targets for individual employees or teams to achieve and then gauge their responses, enabling continual improvements to be implemented.
The boards were made 2600mm long x 1200mm high and fitted with a sturdy pen tray, aiding any regular updates to be made. One side shows a printed vinyl with dry wipe over laminate surface and a plain board on the reverse. This printed design was also applied to both sides on some of the boards, for when more capacity is required. They are being used in distribution centres across the UK for the recording of individual shift performance, including mis-sorts lost in transit items and general time scheduled tasks.
These particular whiteboards are mounted on a base that is fitted with four swivel castors, complete with footbrakes which are used to immobilise the stand when set in position. Being mobile, it enables the boards to be easily moved around the depot and used for a variety of purposes, before being stored away when not in use. Adding a KPI design shows how individual the bespoke element of the board can be.
The addition of graphics, tailored to suit your requirements, to a whiteboard can help to increase shared knowledge amongst the workforce. At-a-glance information can help to speed up productivity, give clear concise instructions to employees and contribute to a smoother running operation.
