While you are no doubt aware that Action Handling supply a comprehensive range of ladders to suit almost any purpose, you may not know that we also carry access towers and aerial work platforms in a variety of sizes and types.

While ladders are useful in many instances of working at height, Health and Safety UK recommend that, if your work will take more than thirty minutes to complete, you consider using other equipment. However, time duration should not be the only consideration when selecting the correct platform to use when working at height – whether a task takes five minutes or five hours, safe use of equipment at all times should be the main priority.

Access towers can be either stationary or mobile with a fixed platform accessible by ladder, so it’s important to select one suited to the height of the task you need to undertake. Aerial platforms such as scissor lifts, on the other hand, allow you to adjust the height of the work platform as needed, allowing employees to ascend to the first part of a task and then move to other points without descending from height. As always, following appropriate health and safety guidelines when using either type of raised access platform is recommended, including regular maintenance and safety checks, ensuring the ground surface is level and stable, and fitting any necessary restraints to keep employees secure while in use.

Our bespoke steel service is also on hand should you not be able to find exactly what you need. We recently worked with a leading car roof box manufacturer to address a health and safety issue onsite. An aluminium platform step was being used by staff during the loading and unloading of vehicles, but after several minor incidents it became clear another solution was needed to ensure employee safety. Action Handling designed a Mobile Access Platform made from welded steel with lockable castors, easy access via detachable chains and a non-slip platform, completed and delivered within fifteen days. Since delivery, loading and unloading has not only become safer, it’s also become a much quicker and easier process for all involved.

So if you need a step up (sorry!) browse our website or give us a call -our  friendly sales staff are always on hand to help you to find exactly what you need.
