Sports stadiums and event venues are big business in the UK and indeed across the world. Gone are the days of the stadium managers using manual labour to lug equipment around. Instead of which we now have fully mechanised systems in place to handle everything, even right up to hydraulically controlled roll out football pitches!
One of our customers recently contacted us to solve the problem of how to safely move small row seating gates around their stadium. The gates are used to aid crowd control and allow spectator access to the correct areas, so the client wanted to be able to move them around in bulk, in order to speed up the task. Their newly acquired fork lift truck is currently used to move palletised provisions around, so with some quick thinking on our part, we suggested the solution of having a purposefully designed stillage that could be either wheeled separately around the stadium or moved over greater distances by their fork truck drivers.
An initial drawing was submitted to the client in order to illustrate the basic idea. A sample stillage was then produced for site testing by the customer.
A few weeks later and with some minor tweaks to the design, we successfully supplied a quantity of bespoke stillages finished with epoxy powder coating, in the appropriate corporate colour. The whole process for this project, from initial meeting to delivery was around 6 weeks.
The stillages are load tested to 1000kg capacity complete with supporting certification and come with four removeable sides for easy stacking away when not in use. The base is fitted with four swivel nylon castors, all of which have footbrakes, so this enables the movement of the stillages in tight areas and aisles. Plus they are also fitted with fork pocket guides that helps to locate the forks of the lifting truck for when the cages are stacked two high or moved around the stadium confines.
