If you thought that planning boards just hung above your desk or on the back of a door, then think again!

We were approached by an existing customer who wanted a giant planning board made. Machine plan drawings can be rather large and in order to lay a whole set out in full, a surface area of just over 2.25m square is needed. That can take up a very large amount of wall space or need several standard desktops.

So following the meeting with the customer, including a quick discussion with the site operatives, it was concluded that we would fabricate a large planning board to meet exact requirements. The initial proposal was in drawing form, then following some minor tweaks, the very large drawing board was fabricated. The floor standing frame was created from mild steel, this held the galvanised steel sheet display board at a tilted angle. A ‘U’ shaped channel front ledge was added to prevent any drawings from sliding off the bottom of the board.

 

 

The overall dimensions of the board measured: 2200mm height x 2400mm width with a depth of 300mm front to back. There was a choice of how to mount the framework - floor bolted in situ or wall mounted (if a big enough space could be found)! The framework was covered with an epoxy powder coated paint for a protective, hardwearing finish. The customer chose black but could have easily had any other standard colour.
         
Of course, not all requirements of planning boards, white boards or notice boards are quite so extreme. There are numerous designs of different boards available as standard but should something out of the ordinary be required, bespoke fabrication gives the perfect solution.
