Whether a forced relocation or by choice, moving business premises can be a fraught enough task in itself, so why not take advantage of the upheaval and make some changes for the good of the company and its workforce.

Why move in the first place?
The reasons why businesses relocate can be complex and often multi-faceted:

  • Companies outgrow their current location.
  • Re-locate due to cost considerations.
  • Have come to the end of a lease.
  • Are seeking a better geographic position to aid increased turnover.

Whatever the reason, it can be a huge undertaking for all concerned, so perhaps the ideal opportunity to enhance the working layout and bring equipment up to date. Whilst this does involve extra costs, the benefits are great. Many items of equipment central to the core business operation may be old having been in situ for many years if not decades. Continual changes in hardware due to better technology, design and improved running costs are reason enough to upgrade. Staff moral can be boosted with the installation of new, clean work stations which can lead to better production times.

new layout

A case in study
One of our good neighbours in Sawbridgeworth of over 20 years recently decided to make the move to larger premises in nearby Bishops Stortford, as part of their growth plan. Nitronics Ltd provide the manufacture and supply of electronic prototyping, printed circuit boards and associated products. They carefully planned and integrated their move with several selected partners of which we were pleased to be one of.

We visited the new site and following an assessment were able to advise on the best layout for the floor space and which workbenches, shelving and racking would be most suitable. Each work station also had the introduction of an anti-fatigue mat to provide workers with a more comfortable surface to stand on when assembling components and parts.

All this happened in a 10 day turn-around from site visit to supply, helping to ensure the move went smoothly!
