After experiencing some issues regarding health and safety compliance, the Forensic Investigation Unit of a southern-based police authority contacted Action Handling’s bespoke steel service, hoping to find a solution.
Jonathan Ball, Sales Manager of Action Handling, visited the Police Authority’s HQ to assess the situation. After some discussion it was discovered that employees lacked faith in the existing equipment and were constantly at risk due to the fact that their stepladders were very old and worn. On a number of occasions the older steps had actually buckled or slipped, causing the Forensic Investigation Unit to seek an urgent solution. Action Handling was able to offer them a solution based upon their exact requirements. The design team at Action Handling came up with a product named Little Jumbo Safety Steps.
Superbly engineered for durability and safety, the steps are ideal for commercial and industrial usage throughout a wide range of applications and industries. The unique non-overlapping step design is reminiscent of a fixed stairway, adding to the feeling of security for the user. They are also phenomenally strong – when tested, the three-tread model supported an astounding 413Kg.
Additional features include a multi-functional tool tray, a safety bar for added security and rugged, corrosion resistant aluminium construction. A smooth-action locking system makes the ladders safe and easy to set up, while non-slip feet add extra stability. Wide non-slip rubber treads mean the ladders are easy to ascend and descend plus the tip and pull wheels make it easy to move the ladder to different locations on site.
Pleased with the design solution, the Police Authority ordered 32 units, all of which were manufactured and supplied with all relevant test certificates within a two week timescale.
