A shutdown is a scheduled closure within a company so that improvements can be made to carry out work on premises & facilities for an extended period of time. During this time, work schedules may have to be modified, special equipment may have to be rented, contractors may have to be hired to fill additional labour requirements and special operations. While this work is carried out workers may be required to take annual leave.

As a friendly heads up, please make sure you are aware of any shutdown periods when liaising with your clients, and suppliers anytime around the months of July/August, and just clarify with them if this is a procedure that might affect your business.

We do not close during the shutdown period so you can also take advantage of this downtime to sit back and let Action Handling service or repair your equipment.Typically pallet trucks, fork lift trucks, scissor lifts and lifting gear are often in use and cannot be made readily available. So what better time to do it.

(Don't panic if you do not close, we can always work around you)

Automatic Enrolment

  • are aged between 22 and State Pension age
  • earn more than £10,000 a year
  • work in the UK

This is called ‘automatic enrolment’.

As we all know from last months newsletter, Paul was off on an action packed adventure to complete The World Class 42km each way, Great Western Greenway, in the West of Ireland, with a few of his mates.

The trial encompassed cycling, loch & sea swimming, running and climbing in a testing weekend of blood sweat and tears.(And maybe a pint or two of Guinness's along the way.... but where better to drink a Guinness than in Ireland)

Well done guys!

Here are some of the photo's Paul captured along the way.
