Adjustable shelving systems, such as our galvanised boltless shelving, offer supreme flexibility when customising your storage space to your requirements. The flexibility of an adjustable system lies in the variable positions for each shelf in relation to the vertical uprights. Whether you need to display or store products, when you use an adjustable shelving system the items can be allocated to shelves with the appropriate height adjustment. For example, small, lightweight items can be stored or displayed together on a shelf with a lower height in relation to the others in the system – this not only appears more pleasing to the eye but is also a more efficient use of the space within the shelving system.
Looking at this system in more detail, a well-engineered example of a shelving cabinet will have holes drilled into the vertical uprights in order to facilitate the insertion of either metal or plastic support structures. These support structures provide a small horizontal plane at each upright onto which the shelf can be placed. Whether your shelving system is for storage, sale or display, the horizontal shelves will generally be made from materials that are strong and non-flexible, such as steel, wood, aluminium or glass.
From light duty shelving to heavy duty pallet racking, most freestanding shelf systems have an upstanding framework constructed from metal (or occasionally wood) right- angled or L-shaped sections. These are the sections that are usually drilled in order to provide the holes mentioned above, or allow the shelves to be bolted directly and more rigidly connected to the structural uprights. Where heavier loads are required, these uprights may take the form of either C-sections or boxed section type extrusions as these shapes are able to take a greater load than the right angles or L-shaped sections. Overall, an adjustable shelving system allows your greater flexibility when designing or updating your workplace storage facilities.
