Using the correct equipment enhances efficiency and safety

Some of Europe's leading low-cost airlines at London Stansted, have successfully implemented an innovative solution using a variety of access work platforms provided by Action Handling. We explored how airlines could utilise access work platforms for two primary reasons. The first would be for conducting routine maintenance checks on jet lighting systems and the second was for serving as backup equipment for material handling tasks when high-cost bespoke access platforms were unavailable.

Individual airlines operate vast fleets of aircraft across Europe, requiring regular maintenance checks to ensure optimal functionality and passenger safety. Additionally, the airline relies on efficient material handling processes, particularly in their warehouses, to maintain a seamless supply chain. We found that several standard items of our access work equipment addressed both these needs at a fraction of the cost of providing otherwise expensive lifting systems.

The airline maintenance teams now use a variety of access work platforms to carry out routine checks on aircraft lighting systems. The platforms have a versatile design and adjustable height to allow the technicians to access various components easily. With the enhanced mobility provided, the platforms can be manoeuvred around the outside of an aircraft, enabling efficient inspections of lighting fixtures, wiring, and connections. This process ensures that the lighting systems meet regulatory standards and are in proper working order, obviously promoting better passenger safety.

These simple low-cost platforms can easily be manoeuvred by forklift truck or stackers into tight spaces or awkward points. We provide both one and two man platforms that will ensure operator safety and quick access to routine maintenance tasks.

Mobile scissor lift tables and single mast personnel platforms are great for maintenance tasks.
