What better time to make workplace improvements, when there are no production staff on site to limit progress. The summer shutdown period can be used to carry out useful tasks whilst minimising work time disruption.

Use this time wisely to comply with any new health and safety guidelines and carry out safety tasks that can help to minimise accidents in the workplace and create a comfortable work environment. Accidents at work contributes to staff sickness levels which can reduce productivity within the company. Popular tasks include the upgrade or installation of anti-slip products, including flat sheet, stair treads, stair nosing, mesh gratings and anti-slip fatigue matting.

Use this downtime to service or repair lifting equipment. Most notably, pallet trucks, forklifts, scissor lifts and lifting gear which are usually being used throughout a normal working day, so this is an opportunity to check, service and maintain these essential items of equipment.
