Moving goods with ease

Moving goods with ease

When there is a pile of goods that are needed to be moved from one area to another, there are various ways in which that can be achieved. You can either handball each item or place the goods onto a truck or trolley of some description and push or pull them to their new location.

Electric platform trucks are capable of moving items up to 500kg. The distance they can carry them isn’t limited in the same way as a non-electric truck which requires operatives to be available to manually push the heavily laden trolley, who could suffer the onset of fatigue from performing such an arduous task. Once loaded, an electric truck requires just one operator and the movement of the goods is now less of a health and safety risk.

The run-up to Christmas can be especially busy for those who work in haulage and distribution. From people lifting heavy parcels around warehouses to delivery drivers moving products across the country, workers in this industry are vulnerable to the risk of injury from hazardous manual handling.

HSE step-by-step guide to manual handling at work should help you to minimise these risks.

Advice for users and suppliers of agency/temporary workers, as many of these are specifically employed for the festive period.
