Understanding the necessity of safety inspections
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) advise that all companies must carry out detailed formal recorded inspections, typically every 1 to 3 months for heavy use or 6 months for lighter use. Inspections must be carried out by a trained person, ensuring all components are safe, stable and in good condition. This is an inspection that is separate from the usual pre-use check where users must conduct a visual check to ensure it is safe before using a ladders, steps or other access equipment..

It's been wetter than an otter's pocket!
Early 2026 has seen record breaking, near constant rainfall to many parts of the UK. Some areas have seen over 40 consecutive days of rain, resulting in one of the wettest January’s in nearly 150 years!
Up to and including 8 February, rainfall has continued to run ahead of previous records. The UK has already seen 37% of the average rainfall expected for the whole of February, with England having already reached 59% of its monthly average. Southern England has suffered the worse with 72% of its monthly average having already fallen.
It's been wet in Wales too (but that's hardly news) with 39% of its average monthly rainfall already fallen. Scotland fairs better but it still has had 21% of its average February rainfall.
Umbrella and welly sales must be at an all time high!

Vertical storing saves money and space!
Traditionally most storage systems are either set up to store goods horizontally on pallet racking or loosely together on cantilever shelf levels. We often find that customers are storing long items like steel sections, extrusions, piping, sheet panels, timber or lengths of plastic in this way.
